Which iPad checks matter during a trial?
Open the same PDF you would use at your desk. Confirm that you can zoom into symbols, move across a large sheet without losing context and switch between drawings. Try making and undoing a correction using touch. If your process depends on a stylus, keyboard or external display, include that exact accessory setup in the trial instead of assuming it behaves like a mouse.
Can the file leave the iPad cleanly?
Download the quantity list, locate it in your normal file workflow and open it in the spreadsheet tool your team uses. Check that columns, units and decimal quantities remain intact. Test a shared handoff to the person pricing the job. An exported file that nobody can locate or reconcile creates extra work even when the on-screen count looks right.
When should final review stay on a desktop?
Keep detailed reconciliation on the device where you can comfortably compare plans, schedules and the estimate at the same time. Field verification and a complete bid review may need different screen setups. The device choice should follow the work: record what succeeded in your trial and what still needs a larger screen or another application.
