Online PDF takeoff: from upload to a reviewed quantity list

Online PDF takeoff puts the drawing and quantity review in a browser. In CyanBuild, upload the PDF, inspect the draft detections and correct the quantity list before using it in an estimate. Start with a clearly defined scope and a known check quantity. The first useful result is a reviewed schedule that you can trace back to the drawing, not an unexplained total. Monthly page capacity and file limits are separate from the time needed to check the work.

What should you prepare before uploading a PDF?

Record the drawing revision and identify the sheets that actually contain your scope. Check that the text, symbols and dimensions are readable when enlarged. A cover sheet or specification page can be useful context but should not be mistaken for a quantity-bearing plan. Keep the source PDF and your scope notes together so the reviewer can explain which revision the takeoff represents.

How do you check online takeoff results?

Pick a small area and compare every reported item with the drawing. Look for missed symbols, duplicate detections and objects assigned to the wrong category. Then inspect the rest of the sheet and reconcile schedules and details. Counts, lengths, areas and volumes are different units: a count of wall segments does not establish their physical length or the finished wall area.

What should the export contain?

Keep the item description, quantity and unit together. Add a drawing reference and revision in your estimating workbook if they are not already present. Open the downloaded file and check a corrected quantity before pricing it. Retain the reviewed quantity schedule as a separate record from supplier rates so a later price change does not obscure a drawing change.

What does CyanBuild software cost?

These are CyanBuild’s published software plans as checked on October 6, 2026. Each allowance is for PDF pages per month. You review the quantities; an outsourced takeoff service is a separate purchase.

Published monthly plans in USD. Source: CyanBuild pricing.
PlanMonthly pricePDF pages / month
Free$03
Starter$2930
Pro$99120
Enterprise$299400

Paid subscriptions renew according to their terms. A page allowance does not guarantee the completeness of a takeoff, and unused capacity does not turn the subscription into a per-project service. Check current features and terms before choosing a plan.

What else should you check?

Does online takeoff mean fully automatic estimating?
No. Draft detections need review, and a price still requires defined scope, units, current rates and allowances. Processing a PDF does not establish a complete construction estimate.
Can I upload a scanned plan?
Check whether its text, linework and symbols remain readable at the working zoom. Test a representative page and compare the result manually. This guide makes no accuracy guarantee for scanned drawings.
Does the monthly subscription include outsourced estimating?
No. The published CyanBuild plans are software subscriptions with PDF page allowances. They do not represent a takeoff-service quotation or paid estimator review.

Where do the figures and product facts come from?
