Which fields make an electrical count auditable?
Add sheet and revision, zone or room, symbol description, device type, count, schedule reference and review status. Where circuits or equipment tags affect scope, preserve those references. Similar symbols can represent different specifications, so reconcile the legend and schedules before merging rows. Keep spare, future and existing equipment distinct from new work.
How should you turn the worksheet into a PDF?
Review the spreadsheet first, then set a print area that includes the unit and drawing reference columns. Check the preview for clipped descriptions and split rows before saving as PDF. Include the revision in the filename and retain the editable sheet. A PDF is useful for review, but the quantity register should remain editable when an addendum changes the work.
What does a device count leave out?
A symbol count does not establish cable routing, circuit length, conductor size or complete installation labor. Inspect the relevant diagrams, specifications and routing assumptions, and record measured lengths separately. Do not turn the example device count into a material order until the scope and product selection have been checked by the responsible estimator.
What can you download and adapt?
A plain CSV worksheet you can open in Excel or another spreadsheet application. The values below are illustrative inputs, not measured project data. The CSV contains static values; it does not include formulas, macros, engineering checks or prices.
| Drawing | Revision | Zone | Item | Unit | Quantity | Schedule reference | Review status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Example only | A | Example room | Example receptacle type | EA | 8 | Confirm schedule | Unreviewed example |
What does CyanBuild software cost?
These are CyanBuild’s published software plans as checked on October 6, 2026. Each allowance is for PDF pages per month. You review the quantities; an outsourced takeoff service is a separate purchase.
| Plan | Monthly price | PDF pages / month |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 3 |
| Starter | $29 | 30 |
| Pro | $99 | 120 |
| Enterprise | $299 | 400 |
Paid subscriptions renew according to their terms. A page allowance does not guarantee the completeness of a takeoff, and unused capacity does not turn the subscription into a per-project service. Check current features and terms before choosing a plan.
What else should you check?
- Is the download a finished PDF form?
- The download is a CSV worksheet you can edit in a spreadsheet and then print or save as PDF. It contains an illustrative count, not measured project data.
- Can every electrical symbol be counted automatically?
- No accuracy or completeness guarantee is made. Check the drawing legend and compare the draft count with the plan, schedules and existing-work notes.
- Should cable length use the same quantity column as devices?
- Use separate rows with explicit units. A device count and a measured cable length are different quantities and should never be added into one total.
Where do the figures and product facts come from?
